Synopsis In November 2005, 12-year old Palestinian boy Ahmed Khatib was accidentally shot and killed by an Israeli soldier, as he played in the Jenin refugee camp. Following his death, his parents made the decision to donate as many of Ahmed's organs as possible, to Israeli children in need throughout the region, including an Orthodox Jew, a Bedouin and a Druze. In the process, the Ahmed Khatib Centre For Peace was established for the children of Jenin. In 'Heart Of Jenin', directed by Leon Geller and Marcus Vetter, the consequences of the brave and inspiring actions of Ahmed's father, Ismael Khatib, are documented with sensitivity and spirit. Through interviews with the children and their families we enter the tumultuous world of occupied Palestine through the perspective of those who despite great suffering and privation, still aspire to reconciliation and peace. | ||
