Djamila Sahraoui (born 1950, Algeria) has lived in France since 1975. She studied filmmaking and script writing at l'IDHEC in Paris. Her debut feature BARAKAT! won the DIFF Arab Muhr Award in 2006. She has directed several short documentaries including TO BE 2000 YEARS OLD IN THE AURES MOUNTAINS (1990) and MY NAME IS MARYAN (1990), and feature documentaries such as IN GOD HALF SKY (1995) and AND THE TREES GROW IN KABYLIE (2003).
