Nour-Eddine Lakhmari's story of friendship, yearning and the cruelties of fate is suffused with the violent, chaotic authenticity of the Moroccan streets, and driven with the uncertainty of a life alternating between hope and despair. Two young hustlers, Adil and Karim prowl the streets of Casablanca, one hoping to emigrate to Sweden, the other pining hopelessly for a rich girl. Lakhmari's story strips away romantic perceptions of life in Morocco with one of the most searingly honest slices of social realism the country's film industry has ever produced. As the director has said, "I will do whatever I want and use my camera as a political weapon to tell the world that you are what you are and no one can tell you how to live."
