Synopsis

Twenty seven years after SHOT DOWN (1987), South Africa’s definitive cult film of the 1980s, acclaimed writer and director Andrew Worsdale returns to the big screen with this noir romance, set amongst the marginalised white underclass. DURBAN POISON explores the love affair between South Africa’s version of Bonnie and Clyde – Joline and Piet – and how their passionate affair soon turns into something destructive, turning them into serial killers. Flitting between the present and the past, the film is a tale of murder and romance and of truth and lies.
