Forced, like millions others from Afghanistan by the repressive rule of the Taliban, young student Heiran has fled to Iran, where he fetches up in a small village and begins trying to make a life for himself. But it's not long before he's bewitched by a 17-year old local girl Mahi, and the pair soon find themselves falling in love. However, Mahi's family vehemently oppose the union and give their daughter a brutal ultimatum - Heiran or her family. It's an agonizing decision to make. Heiran highlights the uneasy, complex relationship between Iranians and immigrant Afghans, and the pressures faced by both.
