NILOOFAR

Synopsis

Set on the Iran/Iraq border, 'Niloofar' is a poignant story of a young girl who wants to pursue her dreams of having an education. While assisting her midwife mother during a delivery, Niloofar meets a woman who helps her to secretly study. Encouraged by her benefactor, she discovers the magic of learning and begins her obsession with knowledge. However, tradition intervenes when Niloofar's father arranges her marriage to an older man once she becomes a woman. Horrified by this, Niloofar and her female relatives do everything in their power to postpone the wedding. Niloofar takes her destiny in her own hands...
