SHIRIN

Synopsis

After an absence of four years, Farhad returns to his village in Iraqi Kurdistan for a holiday, never expecting to meet and fall in love with the vivacious and outspoken Shirin, who is visiting from the city. This dramatic, traditional love story, set in contemporary times, follows the romance that ensues -- taking the star-crossed couple from Iraq to France and back again in a bid to escape the age-old restrictions of family and tradition.
