Synopsis

“The Sound of Old Rooms” chronicles the coming of age of Sarthak, a poet living in Kolkata. We see him first as a college student in 1991 and by the end of the film, he is the father of a 7-year-old. This up-close and personal documentary filmed over 20 years takes the viewer through the life experiences of this ordinary Indian man trying to hold on to his calling of being a poet, whilst juggling a regular family. The film is also a close portrait of an Indian family entering the new millennium.
