Synopsis
When the respected Thai journalist and academic, Supinya Klangnarong published an article in the Thai Post, claiming that the Thai government's involvement with telecoms giant Shin Corporation amounted to a conflict of interest, she found herself and the paper facing $11m criminal and civil libel lawsuits. The Shin Corporation was owned at the time by the family of former Thai PM, Thaksin Shinawatra. During the three-year trial the country witnessed an extraordinary sight as the government attempted to silence Klangnarong. Director Pimpaka Towira, a leading figure on Thailand's independent film scene, chronicles her ordeal, in this beguiling mix of cinema vérité, personal profile, political exposé and national diary.
