The Industry Office
The aim of the Industry Office is to bring the Arab and International film industry professionals together with a view to facilitating business co-operations. To this end a programme of information services and events has been put together to enable the two communities to share experience and expertise and to gain the understanding and insight necessary for productive collaboration.
The Industry Office provides a range of services and events in order to facilitate interaction and business opportunities between industry professionals. During the Festival, the Industry Office will be open daily from 09:00 to 18:00. It is located within the DIFF Headquarters at the Madinat Jumeirah Conference Centre.
All Industry events and networking sessions will be held in the Industry Office area.
Industry Information Desk
Located within the Industry Office, the Industry Information Desk is a service for industry guests and filmmakers to ensure maximum efficiency towards conducting business at the Festival. Staff at the desk will be on hand to take messages and help organise one-to-one meetings between delegates and consultants as well as provide updates to the events schedule. Some of this information will be emailed to delegates during the Festival. Lists of participants in the networking sessions will also be available at the Information Desk.
Industry Lounge
The Industry Lounge is a dedicated space within the Industry Office, where delegates can meet during the day to network and conduct business. The Lounge has hospitality services as well as complimentary Wi-Fi.
Industry Guide
The DIFF Industry Guide is a specialised publication containing an extensive listing of Industry delegates, who had registered for the Festival by November 5. The publication serves as an invaluable tool for successful networking at DIFF.
Industry Consultants
There are two industry consultants available during the Festival for filmmakers and Industry delegates to arrange meetings with. The consultants will be able to provide information about submitting films to festivals, festival strategy, sales agents, distribution, publicity materials, legal advice and script development. Mary Davies will provide expertise for fiction films and Jannie Langbroek specialises in documentaries. Meetings with any of the consultants can be organised through the Industry Information Desk.
Industry Events/Panels
The Industry Office has planned a number of workshops, panel discussions, and master classes in order to stimulate dialogue and foster partnerships within the global film community.
Networking Sessions
The networking sessions are informal gatherings designed to help make new business acquaintances. Key industry professionals from different sectors of the film industry are invited to host a table and delegates are welcome to join them for discussions. The aim of the sessions is to provide a forum, where one can network with a range of individuals and companies they may not ordinarily come into contact with, in the context of their own field of work.
