Ali, a retired Turkish widower, lives in Germany with his son, Nejat, a university lecturer. Ali takes in Yeter, a Turkish woman. When she dies, Nejat goes to Turkey to find Yeter's daughter, Ayten, a political activist, but she has fled to Germany. There, she lives with Lotte, whose mother Susanne disapproves. Istanbul calls Ayten, Lotte and Susanne in turn. From the gifted director of Head-On, this is an elegy on death, new beginnings, the mystery of interwoven lives and the longing for home. AM ENDE KOMMEN TOURISTEN (And Along Come Tourists)
Sven (Alexander Fehling), a sensitive young German who has elected to fulfill his civil service by working abroad, arrives in Oświęcim, Poland, which houses the Auschwitz concentration camp. He becomes the new caregiver for Stanislaw Krzeminski (Ryszard Ronczewski), a former Auschwitz inmate who refuses to leave – determined to bear witness to the atrocities of the camp that has become a tourist destination. He helped take thousands of suitcases from doomed Jewish families as they arrived, and now works feverishly to restore the suitcases – mute testaments to the dead. He rejects Sven’s overtures of friendship. Gradually, Sven’s understanding of the camp deepens, he becomes fond of the proud, courageous Krzeminski, falls in love with a Polish girl, Ania, and comes to distrust his government’s role in Poland’s past and present.

DANS LA VIE (Two Ladies)
In Paris, Selima (Sabrina Ben Adjallah), a young nurse, experiences anti-Arab prejudice during her regular rounds of house-calls. She applies for a job caring for an elderly Jew, Esther (Arian Jacquot), a hot-tempered and cranky patient. Surprisingly, Selima and Esther like each other, and when Esther fires her housekeeper, Selima delicately recruits her own mother, Halima (Zohra Muoffok), to clean and cook kosher. Halima, a North African immigrant, identifies strongly with the plight of the Palestinians, and Selima knows she is walking a tightrope in bringing these two strong-willed women together. Eventually Halima and her husband must take the ailing Esther into their home, and Esther reveals the truth about her family history.

NOMADAK TX

They travel through India, Lapland, the Sahara and Mongolia, fusing their specific sound and rhythms with those of remote nomadic peoples. Whether riding a horse in Mongolia, a train in Bombay, crossing the Algerian desert, or skiing in the Arctic Pole, they play the Txalaparta everywhere, making it a tool to communicate the desires of all they meet. Pilgrims in search of sounds, they find them in unique, remote cultures, amongst peoples who will not lose their voice. They are attuned to listen and as they travel the sounds rise up, fusing into musical statements of ever-increasing complexity.
