Synopsis
Acclaimed director Danny Boyle ('Slumdog Millionaire', 'Trainspotting''28 Days Later') presents the harrowing '127 Hours', the true story of mountain climber Aron Ralston's remarkable adventure to save himself after a fallen boulder crashes on his forearm, trapping him against a wall in a narrow isolated canyon in Utah and he's told no-one where he was going. Over the next five days Ralston (James Franco) struggles to survive and to escape. As time seems to be running out he examines his life, filming himself on a small video camera and ultimately discovering the courage to extricate himself by the only possible means, scale a 65-foot wall and hike over eight miles before he is finally rescued. Using a range of cinematic strategies in confines little wider than Ralston himself and served by an extraordinary performance from Franco, who easily vacillates from exuberance on his hike to increasing desperation during his entrapment, Boyle delivers a roller coaster experience.
